Extension
Passive task board and footer widget that tracks what the agent actually finished, grounded in tool evidence and Jev verification.

What it does
Pi Progress Bar watches turns in the background without asking the coding agent to maintain a todo list. After each meaningful turn, it uses Jev (jev-1.13.0) to decide whether the user changed scope and whether tracked work is genuinely done, while using the active Pi model to extract a grounded task tree.
It renders a compact progress bar in Pi's footer and opens a two-pane task board via /progress. Each task records a four-part summary—Requirements & Acceptance, New Red Test, Red Evidence, and Implementation—alongside subtasks and recent tool steps. When all parent tasks finish, the board clears automatically; if a run settles with unfinished work, it sends a single check-in after 60 seconds.
When to reach for it
Invocation: Runs passively once installed; use /progress to inspect the board or progress_board, progress_task, and progress_update when the agent needs to query or adjust task state.
- Multi-step implementation
- Keep a live view of which requirements have failing tests, red evidence, and passing code without cluttering the main prompt.
- Resuming or auditing a long session
- Open /progress to inspect subtasks, recent tool steps, and why a task is still marked active or blocked.
What it adds
- /progress, /progress on, and /progress off commands with an interactive two-pane task board overlay.
- Read-only inspection tools (progress_board, progress_task) and a targeted update tool (progress_update) for the agent.
- Dual-model pipeline: Jev (jev-1.13.0 via TYPESAFE_API_KEY) for scope and completion gates, plus the active Pi model for task extraction.
- Single 60-second idle reminder when an agent turn settles while tracked tasks remain incomplete.
Commands: /progress, /progress on, /progress off
How it fits
- Pi Boomerang — Complements Boomerang on long tasks: Boomerang compacts finished loops while Progress Bar tracks live in-flight progress.
- Pi Review — Once all tracked tasks on the progress board settle as done, run Pi Review to audit the resulting diff before committing.
Good to know
- Requires TYPESAFE_API_KEY in the shell environment so Jev can run scope and completion checks.
- Pure conversational turns without tool calls are skipped unless the user explicitly changes scope.
